Yr.no is a nice weather service and it still shows lake ontario for me (though I'm not in the US and leave it on norsk instead of bothering to change to English)

    The folks most concerned about such a change are those who live in the US since I'm assuming only we are exposed to this stupidity eg European providers aren't renaming shit based on a lunatics directives. For us yr.no is hard to adjust to since it supports the english language BUT only uses Celsius. I'm aware metric is superior but at least for me I have to mentally translate from A->B and celsius is used nowhere but in the sciences here. EG its not a great alternative

    For me, in the EU, google maps shows "Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)" and "Lake Ontario (Lake America)".

    google maps will sometimes show different borders depending on where you access it from as well.

    Personally I try to use OSM where I can, but streetview can be really useful sometimes.

    You wouldn't have to calculate if you just start getting used to it. Just remember what it's based on and stop clinging to the fahrenheit scale like it's a lifesaver and you're about to drown. Or keep a separate app running side by side set to C and get a feel for the translation if you want, but really you'd be better off switching to metric as your native scale entirely.

    It may be mostly used in sciences, but given that weather is typically the only temperature based thing you probably need to look at regularly (outside of cooking/baking maybe- and you don't really need a feel for how 375 is different than 400, just set the oven correctly), it's not that difficult.

    I did it just for kicks, and looked at both readings (F and C) for a while, and got the feel of it pretty quickly.

    I want to do the same for length/distance next, which is more difficult.

    But if you don't just want to, it's hard to find a good reason to, tbf.
