Trump on Hasan Piker:

Hasan Piker is a terrible liability for the Democratic Party.

He is a communist — there’s no question about it.

I guarantee you, most newcomers to the site don't even know or care to know what the hell a "chapo trap house" even is, this comm might as well be the equivalent of a main channel in a Discord server.

Hasan is the current face of the slop comm for a reason, it's one struggle session after another for a fucking Twitch streamer on this site.

I don't know what is the point of 80% of the communities here. I blocked the ones on topics that harm me, and I barely look at which community something is posted in, because it provides almost no context to the post. All this to say that the organization here is terrible, partially due to overlapping and unclear communities, but also due to the Lemmy limitation of being unable to move posts.

Do you always talk about yourself in the third person? >most newcomers to the site don't even know or care to know what the hell a "chapo trap house"

Also you contradict yourself. You say that the chapo trap house comm isn't about chapo trap house, but that the slop comm must be about hasan because it has a picture of hasan. Those are 2 opposing statements.

The reason that Hasan is the photo of the slop comm is that it was changed recently and I think that the mods admire him. That's why they chose a shirtless photo. Half the website is lusting after him. It's like when a teenager puts a poster of their celebrity crush on their bedroom wall.

Also Hasan is the reason why that comm is called slop and not because it's about him. It's because Hasan calls refers to maga supporters as "hogs" and hasan had a segment called "hog watch". Several posters suggested that the comm be named "hog watch" or "hog trough" and the mods chose the name "slop", a spin on hog trough, which then the word slop became overused in mainstream culture.

    downbear

I didn't "contradict" myself, I said it "might as well be" I don't see people posting exclusively updates about the pod, also I never said the slop comm is exclusively for Hasan, if someone started posting about Assmold (what? He's UNFORTUNATELY also "relevant" to American politics) or some other freak they'd be told to fuck off to the slop comm

I don't want to see anything of that asshole anywhere nor his little army of fans, I had my fill of him, I've never once seen him apologise for any of his personal faults, and after the Platner worship I drew the line. I unfollowed him on every place, I do not care about the Democratic Party's Twitch Daddy.

And people complain about this site not being able to retain new members, I wonder why.

You raise a lot of interesting questions, like: why do hexbears have shirtless photos of Hasan but not shirtless photos of Asmongold? Why isn't the slop comm a shirtless photo of Asmongold?

Also you assert that Hexbear doesn't receive new users because hexbears are supportive of Hasan. Why then is Hasan's community so much larger than Hexbear? Hexbear was created at the same time that Hasan started streaming and the communities were the same size. Now Hasan millions of fans, some who say he inspired them to engage in activism, and Hexbear still seems smaller than when it was a subreddit. It must be Hasan that is holding back Hexbear's growth? Could it be that Hasan made his community have focus on optimism while communities like /c/slop are built on pessimism?

You don't have to like Hasan. There are even many people in Hasan's community who criticize him. I said that it hurts the website to say that everything that you don't like should be posted into the slop comm. I think it's totally fine that you don't like Hasan. My point is that comms other than /c/slop are allowed to have posts that you don't like.

Why then is Hasan's community so much larger than Hexbear?

It's almost as if streams are a more entertaining and interactive medium than niche forums, I've seen it constantly be mentioned here by Hasan fans that he intentionally has more soft politics to appeal to his wide American audiance, as compared to being a hard-liner, which would not have the same appeal for Americans for obvious reasons.

He streams everyday, at a very specific time, you get a little alert when he streams if you follow him as you know, people make a habit of watching, I don't blame them he can be funny, like you said he's been at it for years, it's only natural for him to be huge

some who say he inspired them to engage in activism

That's good, he gets a point for that, I'm not a mindless hater. I genuinely hope his fans put their energy to good things instead praying to the Dems to magic out communism out of their sleeves next election, like some do.

It must be Hasan that is holding back Hexbear's growth?

I literally never said that, please stop.

There are even many people in Hasan's community who criticize him.

I stopped watching largely because he never bothers to correct his mistakes, he's very open about his faults but, like he says, he has an "addictive personality" he doesn't like to admit he's wrong, you can't tell me that's not true, he belittles people who raise genuine concerns (see: Platner situation). Some deserve it, others don't, it's fucked up when he lumps the two groups together.

Again, just like he says when he is questioned by chatters about why pundits (like Shapiro for example) do what they do, he explains: trying to find out the precise reasoning behind their actions is a waste of energy, the output they generate is what matters.

So be it, I'll go off that, he knows he has handled things poorly at times or he has blind spots (everyone does), but he doesn't do much to change that, he just carries on and acknowledges he's imperfect instead of trying to better himself only slightly, I'm not asking for miracles I just hate seeing him do that over and over again, I'm in other communities where this exact point has been brought up many times, nothing has changed.
