It's a weird book, and a bit of an old fashioned translation. It has been fun to explain what some of the stuff in the book is (like a primer) to a child of the 21st century lol. There are parts that are questionable, but compared to the shit kids can be exposed to on YouTube it's decent (and at least has some sense of trying to teach kids some basic, but dated morals). Honestly worth a read if you like the game, if only to have the moments.

I haven't watched the Disney films (I've heard the original one is solid), but the recent Guillermo del Toro movie is pretty great. The del Toro movie seems to embrace that kids are a little rebellious and chaotic (as a good thing) more than the original book. It's also set in fascist Italy, and Pinocchio sings a poop fart song about to his face.

I do like scifi Pinocchio as a concept (like how it's lightly the inspiration for Astro Boy).
