That's frustratingly undeniable.

But also, there's a Millenarianism to the MAGA movement that's costing them support over time. The pool of Trumpies is shrinking as the milquetoast Lindsey Graham neocons and the faux-libertarian Tucker Carlson fascists bail out of Trump's party. Same shit happened under Bush, at the tail end of '07/'08. You had a bunch of Radical Centrists and Professional Conservative Contrarians with their fingers to the wind, saying "Um akutly I like this Obama guy because he's popular and Shrub isn't".

The people who are still pro-Trump are crazier because the sane cyncial people who were just along for the ride during the "good" times are leaving. FFS, Karl Rove says he's voting Democrat this year. That's how thin the base is getting.

  • Everyone thought leader in MAGA is trying to time the crash. As the train gets further from the rails, some members take their profits and leave, claiming to have had their eyes opened finally or whatever. This has a side effect of leaving the more reckless in charge of the MAGA faithful. Some of them think there is yet more juice to be squeezed from the globe, for those bold enough and strong enough to squeeze it. Some of them are in too deep and believe they can't leave, not now. They are the ones that would destroy the world before realizing a loss.
