Body shaming hurts far more people than the intended target, who it often doesn't even hurt cause he won't even see it. Do better.

Apparently I don't know what I'm talking about, I thought for sure this was a small dick joke.

The joke has nothing to do with Ed’s body. The image is a joke referring to the fact that all of Ed’s songs use cowboy chords played on the first three frets. Therefore, he doesn’t need additional frets.

Edit: softened my tone to match the softened tone of OP. The people below writing paragraphs about it need to go touch grass (or read theory).

Ps. Telling someone to “do better” while also being flat out wrong has to be the most cringey thing that could happen in a thread and I couldn’t resist wagging my finger right back at the finger-waggy OP. Sue me.

don't apologize to them that's just debasing yourself. no amount of being correct justified their tone to you

Lol StitchyAndWitchy is the person apologizing for her unjustified tone going off bad assumptions about the meme's intent

Do better (at discerning who you're replying to) (tone: light-hearted ribbing)

Edit: unless you're talking about borosilicate's reply which at least one other user interpreted as overly defensive? But I honestly don't see it. Stitchy's original reply is way more rude/presumptive

Edit2: today I learned my client doesn't tell me when comments have been edited

Orlando is right, borosilicate edited their comment. I don't really care, I fixed my original comment and responded to them with a lighthearted joke, we're in a thread about short penises guitar necks. As long as it wasn't actually body shaming I'm not taking it seriously.

borosilicate edited it 3 hours ago to blunt the tone. it went along the lines of:

"overeaction much? [explains their spin on the joke]. get it yet? it's #you who needs to do better"

neo-nazi denial energy, which honestly is corroborated by the edit. (the fucking markup isn't working no matter what i do)

genuinely, what else could it be? short neck joke? does he even have a short neck? nirvana guitar joke would be 2 frets bigger in the 90s (and 2 strings missing probably)

I seriously don’t get how people are misinterpreting this as a joke about his dick size. I’ve never even heard of guitar being used as a metaphor for the penis.

I think people are reading this as a small penis joke. That's what I assumed before I saw the fret explanation.

thats kinda ok, even if guitar parts are called body/neck/head, not popular knowledge, but comrade from db provided that explanation (little bit high horsey, but still) and got ridiculed for it (!) (meow-hug to our glass brethren)

In hindsight yeah, might have been a niche meme to post. I’d still have preferred if people had asked for context if they weren’t sure of the meaning rather than immediately jump to accusing me of being ignorant, but yeah. The situation has been resolved now and I’m going to move on.
