This is victim blaming. No one is in their right mind after a sexual assault, especially after being abused before, and even more especially when they thought they were in a safe space. I found so much of what she said as extremely relatable, including the impulse not to impose on the predator (e.g. ruin their life over it, or alternatively, have so many people comment on the thing that makes your PTSD flip out). The default reaction of a party must be to purge the sexual predator, at minimum. I'm saying that it should happen automatically, a victim is usually very concerned about their altered mental state and is often reticent to rock any boats, but ultimately the band-aid must be pulled off in order to protect other women in the organization. She fundamentally self harmed as well, as Eugene came back after a 6 month vacation and she had to deal with it all over again. This self harm also arises from how society teaches women to act. Its a little surprising to me that this organization has not had more reading on Marxist feminist literature, as it would have prepped them on how to handle situations like this.
Please do better.
