I was heading down to water a tree on my little block and there was a agitated plover pair around. I was just wondering where their nest was (given their reactions I figured it was nearby) when I saw this little one right next to me.

They certainly camouflage well, I was within a metre or so of the chick before I noticed it even with the grass being pretty short at the moment.

To be fair I've had a magpie claw my head which drew blood, cheeky devils. I always get a little heartbroken about the lady that was swooped and fell with her baby that then passed away.

As a young child who may have slightly agitated plovers.. they definitely enjoy a swoop.
