New Data Suggests Long Waits Between Seasons Are Hurting Viewership on Netflix Hits

Squid Game was the hottest thing of 2021. Watched it all, loved it.
It didn't really need a season 2, but it came out more than 3 years later in December of 2024. And we got the "I've played these games before meme", so...ok fine
But unbeknownst to me, the season 2 was a half season ending on a cliffhanger after just 7 weirdly paced episodes.
Then season 3 came out 6 months later to finish things up but the momentum was completely fucked and Squid Game fell out of the zeitgeist. I didn't watch Season 3 and have no idea how it ends. Maybe I'll watch it down the road.
A fumble of baffling proportions.
