that's optimistic, thinking they won't double down on mechanisms to persecute and murder the general public in the time it takes for that to happen

    Oh no that's why it's legit just going to be boomers (likely in some LTC hell being used to extract what remains of their savings), labor slaves via the prison system or company "towns", and legit nomads trying to stay ahead of said gestapo police 2.0. Everyone else will likely have been murdered or fled the country.
