I played remake when it released but only just got around to starting Rebirth, so no spoilers please as I've only just left Kalm and reached the Chocobo ranch. But I already have a ton of opinions even though I've only played like 2 hours of this haha.
First thing I have to say? I'm still losing my shit that there is a character named Chadley. C. H. A. D. L. E. Y. Chadley. He just handed Cloud something called a Chad device. I think I love this game. It seems like it's going to double down on the cringe factor that the original had and I'm here for it. I'm glad it's not as self serious as Advent Children so far, although the ending of Remake has me a bit worried that they're going to go into the same problem Kingdom Hearts has with vague confusing "Fate"! "Darkness"! stuff. But I'll talk more about that when I write a proper review thing.
Second thing? I hate to be that consumer brained kind of person that falls for marketable mascots, but holy shit I love the Chocobo design. I love them. I want a Chocobo guys they are so damn fluffy and cute. Look at this shit. Look at it's little eyelashes and smiley beak. I am a grown ass adult approaching middle age btw.
LOOK AT IT. It's hard to express how cute they are until you see them in action because the sounds and actions they make are also chickeny and cute. The baby ones are a bit weird looking though, too close to human baby shape, eww.
I mean it's still cute, but I like the big doofy chickens more
Speaking of eww, it's a feat that the devs managed to make the both the cutest version of Chocobos I've seen, but also the worst Moogle design I have ever seen. This is horrible. Look at it. How did they manage to make something as marketable as a Moogle this nightmare inducing?
Also I they did Barret perfect in these games so far. I love Barret. Barret is good. I would blow up 50 reactors for that man.
That is all. I'll actually go into the game mechanics, the story and pretty damn relevant themes for 2026 it has when I've finished the game.
Also I hear the minigames are annoying, but all I've played so far is the Queens Blood minigame and it's... fine I guess.
