Because it doesn't matter how much you make if you are appreciably beating minimum wage until you file taxes? I'm in the same boat where I worked in a white tablecloth restaurant, and it just doesn't matter if you are guaranteed to beat it the minimum. There's not a prize for knowing your take-home pay to the nearest dollar week over week.
What are you even talking about. Literally nothing you are saying makes sense. If you are making appreciably above minimum wage, then why would you be worrying about not making tips?
At the same time, knocking down the bottom line of your lowest paid workers is still checks notes a dick move. That's true no matter who you are.
Who is knocking down any low paid workers?
Crab bucket: you know how bad things are, but you intentionally punish other crabs in the bucket so nobody (or only a few) get out.
Huh? This metaphor makes no sense. Punish them how? With what?
If your perspective is "this problem gets better if I, personally, don't tip" you, tyler, are personally asshole. Period. And the more you understand the situation the worse it makes you look, not better.
And yet this is how the entire rest of the world works. Are they all assholes? You keep thinking whatever you want, I guarantee you make ten times what I did working in a boonies Mexican restaurant, and even at the time I pushed for no tips and better pay. That was with federal minimum wage.
You’re just getting paid a ridiculous amount and see no tips as a threat to that, rather than a boost to all the actual low paid servers out there. Those that do make minimum wage every week because their employers say employees make more getting tipped.
