Need to get rid of your roommate's beer for reasons? Here's the solution! Drumsticks came out extra tender, though probably half the beer would have worked better. Doesn't look as nice since I scored the meat to soak the flavors in.

Is it ok to add a little chili or would that be a Fauxpas? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] stardreamer@lemmy.blahaj.zone [S] 6 points 6 days ago (1 child) It's homemade food. Just go with whatever you'd like. Though it looks like YouTube recipe videos add potatoes and red peppers for the simmer. I just did this the way my grandpa used to make them. Which was probably not the best but very nostalgic to me. There was one time he subbed the beer with baijiu, with disastrous results (the whole chicken turned bitter). permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] MohamedMoney@feddit.org 3 points 6 days ago (1 child) Personally, I’d add a little fruit like peaches or mango and try to minimize the sugar but I just wanted to know if there’s a „right“ way to do it. Potatoes is a small surprise to me, this screams for rice in my mind 🤷♂️ permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] stardreamer@lemmy.blahaj.zone [S] 6 points 5 days ago A lot of Chinese food add sugar but not fruit, since fruit is usually too sweet. Usually anything with msg would also have a few grams of sugar in it as well. The goal is to add just enough sugar that it tastes different but you can't tell it's sugar. permalink fedilink source parent
