If they’d just stained it black, still straight to jail. It would take forever to sand that out. I hate the grey/black/white “palette”. It’s for people who think k their house is an asset, not a home.

    I don't view my home as an asset. But I also don't consider it a public work of art. It's for me. Caring about what others think only matters if I'm trying to improve the value of an asset. If my preferences are tacky that's my problem.

    Whenever I see lots of white/black/gray, I think "Flippers," and I know they used the cheapest crap possible, and used amateur labor to do it.

    These are what was freshly installed last year in my basement apartment by my landlord superintendent.

    No sub flooring straight on the concrete. In the winter they have a gap between the plank ends of about 1/8 inch, in the summer they swell from the humidity and buckle up. They already look trashed, and I'm sure the landlord will keep my deposit because "I" damaged the floor boards.
