When you quote, you need to have an empty line after the quote before you write your response to it.
The way you do it, your response is part of the quote.

Apart from that your example is anecdotal, and the current war officially started February 22 2022. It's posted in the numbers here every day. This is the official start date of the war. The conflict however dates back further, at a minimum to when Russia invaded and took Crimea.

And an anecdote does not disprove that there especially early on were few that believed that Ukraine could resist Russia for long. There were many that claimed Ukraine should just give up, because resistance was meaningless.

Personally I believed Ukraine would win already pretty early on, as the Russian blatant incompetence quickly became very clear. And the long columns froze and were sitting ducks, and paratroopers were shut down over Kiev. So Russia failed completely in taking Kiev, which was supposed to fall already within the first couple of days to Russian overwhelming pressure.
