This is the way it has been for millions of years. What people are proposing is breaking that human cycle. Eliminating the investment of time body and soul into the next generation. Pretending this wouldn't have significant impacts on our society is farcical. Population could literally be controlled by whoever has the money. We would also likely end up in a Gattaca situation because who would want to spend the money on a defective baby.
