The Treaty of Fort Jackson (also known as the Treaty with the Creeks) was signed on this day in 1814 at Fort Jackson in Alabama. The treaty was agreed upon in the aftermath of the defeat of Red Stick (Upper Creek) resistance by U.S. forces at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend.

The treaty was the "largest single Indian cession of southern American land", according to historian Michael Rogin - around 23 million acres in Alabama and Georgia. The U.S. forces won with the battle with the help of allied Cherokee and Lower Creek forces friendly to the American side.

The terms of various treaties with the Creek nation would go on to be consistently violated by Americans colonizing the south.

    Love how I can literally be banned from a comm for ‘antisemitism’ because I made some mildly facetious comment about Israel having the US or other nations by the balls but I invite a torrent of abuse for pointing out racial resentment against black and Indian people, sometimes getting modfucked for spurious infractions.

    This thread should genuinely not exist and only exists to whitewash any instance of racism on this site. It’s legitimately worse than reddit in this regard, especially with all these ex-4chan weirdos lurking about

    I saw that thread and reported that person for zionism but it's a dice roll with how some of the mods are also zionists.

    Still remembering that time I caught a temp ban my first month here because I pointed out the support Isreal has from religious organizations. People were pearl clutching over scientology and were more concerned about that than a sexual assault case. Not that scientology is good, mind you, just that I think it's weird how it's a deal breaker for some people but Catholicism, zionism, and Evangelicalism aren't.
