Apparently this was in Detroit in 2020. A similar thing happened a few years earlier in West Seattle. Black guy went into a Wa. Mutual to deposit a check and the bank people thought it "didn't look right" so they called the cops and charged him with check fraud. During the week or so he spent in jail, he lost his job, got evicted from his apartment, and gf broke up with him. He sued the bank and it took a couple years but he won.

Evaluating a person based on a single fact about them is the kind of keen, thorough, analytical thinking that gives me faith in democracy!

Wow. We know absolutely nothing about their relationship, like at all, and I'm the snide one.

"them is the kind of keen, thorough, analytical thinking that gives me faith in democracy!" This is snide, yes.

Leaving your partner during a false acuusation and not taking his word over it and not waiting for a full conviction show how little she cares for him. Kind of a douchey thing to do.

She didn't wait for proof and your the one complaining about people being quick to judge?

I stand by what I said - she couldn't know it was a false accusation at the time. We have no idea what their relationship was like - for all we know she could have seen this as one more in a series of lies he told. I'm not saying that's what happened, I'm saying WE HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA. It makes no sense to characterize a person based on a single bit of third- or fourth-hand information you see somewhere. It's sloppy thinking, and I'm done wasting time with you. Have the rest of this inane argument by yourself.

If you found out the person you were dating was a criminal (according to the authorities), would you stick around?

depends on what it was for lol.

way to out yourself as an unsophisticated, sheltered suburbanite.

child molester or abuser = no way

any rich people crime, like embezzling = no way

drug crimes other than crack, heroin, meth? who cares...

    anything else = whatever.

rather date a murderer than a yuppie.
