Yep, I definitely didn't do that on purpose. You're right.

I actually had a hard time reading their comment. Maybe it's because I was just waking up, but it's generally a good idea to at least read what you've typed once before hitting submit.

Edit: also you're wrong. https://www.oed.com/dictionary/oughta_v?tl=true This word has been in use with this spelling since 1840. Language is fluid, Words are defined be how they are used, not the other way around.

  • I tend to read entire words at a time, and doing that your brain only really checks the first letter, last letter, and that most of the rest of the letters are actually there. That can be tolerant of mistakes like "raeding" or even "hte" but unexpected words or misspellings caused by touch screen keyboards make you stop and revert back to other, slower methods.

Be a pedant about your own spelling first.

I always find it odd how people take this kinda thing as an insult. "I can't read what you wrote because it has too many errors" is, like, one of the first things you encounter when learning to write. It's just a simple statement of fact. Cool it.

Hypocrisy is the second thing you encounter.

Okay? Everyone should proofread their stuff. Why does it matter If the person who says so makes a typo? They should proofread too. Proofread your stuff, or accept that people might not understand what you're trying to say when you don't.
