Well folks, I found an IRL cat hater!

Genuinely took me off guard when she said that.

She also snarled in disgust when I showed her a picture of one of the sweet heart strays in my neighborhood.

.....Probably coming off as a fake post, but no, I'm being serious!

Only about 1% of cats shed the parasite at any given time, and the parasite isn't infectious until 1 to 5 days after being shed. The risk comes from accidentally ingesting contaminated soil or litter particles. I also believe they only shed after initially contracting the infection not continuously.

The parasite most commonly spreads through undercooked meat, food (unwashed produce from contaminated soil) or water contamination or can be passed from mother to child. There’s like a non zero chance a cat hater who hates cats for this reason has the parasite without knowing. 2.5 billion people globally and 60 million in the US.

Just dont eat cat poo and you’ll be fine. Its overblown again from cat haters but also just another reason not to have outdoor cats.

Oh and the thing about it making you like cats is false cos its just a severe twisting of the parasites effects in mice that make them passive to predators which has nothing to do with liking cats and we’re also not mice.
