The Treaty of Fort Jackson (also known as the Treaty with the Creeks) was signed on this day in 1814 at Fort Jackson in Alabama. The treaty was agreed upon in the aftermath of the defeat of Red Stick (Upper Creek) resistance by U.S. forces at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend.
The treaty was the "largest single Indian cession of southern American land", according to historian Michael Rogin - around 23 million acres in Alabama and Georgia. The U.S. forces won with the battle with the help of allied Cherokee and Lower Creek forces friendly to the American side.
The terms of various treaties with the Creek nation would go on to be consistently violated by Americans colonizing the south.

There is such a long list of accusations and insults that have been leveled at those of us who dare to push the "discourse" beyond the bounds of acceptability in the lemmyverse.
I am used to it but it doesnt mean I don't have a significant pain from what I can only describe as "drive-by violence" by various users who say these things then avoid me until months later when they return to harass me for something else and then are never held accountable.
I think my stamina is running dry in this case. My hope is that I can contribute something valuable that others who have more patience and capabilities are able to integrate into a dialectic. The dialectic that is being dragged along behind the missiles and drones and the blood of the martyrs.
