By controlling everything everyone does.
because he knows if he says anything about what he's doing she'll lose her shit, nag him to death, and throw everything out of control just so she feels in control.
guess what? he was right!
I haven't seen the show in years but I think you're being hyperbolic. She seemed very reasonable on my rewatches. Husband turns drug kingpin just to pay for his treatment and provide for his family is an insane idea, and shouldn't ever need to be considered. He also killed people from very early on. Though of course the real solution is universal healthcare, and possibly a wealth tax.
Edit: Oh and he also literally had rich friends. He could've cast his pride aside and "accepted charity".
it was never about this. Walt did it all for himself, for his ego. Walt was cornered into a mundane life by choices he believed he had no choice in making. his cancer diagnosis triggered something inside him that made him realize the illusion of control he thought he had was simply a cage that held his ambition hostage.
Walt was always the "drug kingpin" he just needed to be reminded of that through his own mortality.
as for his pride, Skylar took that from him, though he willingly gave it away she never allowed him to gain it back and discouraged him because she was afraid he would succeed.
it's a perfect example of everyone being shitty and the only true victim was his son.
Walt wasn’t always the drug king pin. Sure, he always had the potential. But, more accurately, Walt was always the insecure bastard. He had the inappropriate relationship while he was a professor because it felt good and stroked his ego. He left his own budding company because he couldn’t handle the other 2 falling in love, and he interpreted that as him being shut out — which was clearly not the case. The drug cooking and drug business were additional things he was good at, but the direction of his success was always driven by his insecurity and ego. He practically couldn’t control the urge to become a strong drug kingpin because inside he was a weak, insecure little man.
