While I’m all for pro-consumer, this doesn’t seem right, no? Having played the game 470 hours already and still wanting a refund even after clearly getting your money’s worth? It seems wrong — at least for me anyway. Also of note, it’s not like DICE will keep Rush out of the game mode rotation forever. They cycle these modes back in. Is it asinine that they do it? Yes, but if you’ve played a game this much and presumably enjoyed it, don’t the devs deserve some of your dime?

Author is clearly a corpo simp and deserves to have their car’s seat warmers retroactively paywalled.

It’s not like the actual devs are even getting paid their fair share of the game’s profits, they largely get paid the same either way and the rest lines the pockets of investors.

We removed all the backseats of your car, yes that's true, we are sorry about that. This is a random new internal policy. We understand this might be upsetting to you but you asking for reparation seems to be a bit of an exageration since you have used your car for so much hours already.

I agree and I absolutely will have a double standard here. Do it to a big studio and it's a fun exploration of how far you can push a refund policy.

Do it to an indie dev and I'm ostracizing you.

Do it to an indie dev and I'm ostracizing you.

If an indie dev decided to randomly start removing content a year after release, they would deserve to have it done to them too. You get more leeway as an indie, but it's not a free pass.

I don't care what size your studio is. If I pay for a product it is mine. If you start taking things away from that you owe my a refund.

Former Lemming that developed Tesseract, and implemented a hidden blocklist in the Tesseract frontend.

[-] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Ah yes that idiot, fortunately I never used tesseract but yeah fuck him.

[-] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Same here, but I got one of the medallions for being on the block list, and your comment reminded me of him. Cheers!

Me too, greatest thing I ever received!

No online games need to be about to do that. Like mmos that have events that change the game. They changed my comic I’ve been reading do i get all of them refunded?

[-] hoshikarakitaridia@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago

It's not even that to me.

To me it's simply that you were promised to pay for a complete game. They didn't tell you to pay for 3 modes for 2 years, and then the rest for a few more years, and then they shut down the servers.

This is what we call false advertising and a breach of contract. You can't bury those things - they have to be apparent at purchase.

We wouldn't do this to an indie studio, because indie studios don't decide to remove features randomly 2y in. If they did, hell yes I would criticize them.

I wonder if others got refunds for destiny 2 removing content.
