Edit: currently only NBC has called it, I may fall asleep before it gets confirmed by another outlet

Edit 2: Mallory McMorrow has conceded the race to El-Sayed

Edit 3: CNN and Associated Press just called it for El-Sayed

Edit 4: Stevens has conceded

wtf is going on in Detroit? It makes sense a progressive like Abdul El-Sayed would win out in the urban centers like in Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor, but then why is Detroit different?

It's possible the Stevens campaign's lie about her being endorsed by Obama actually paid off but I really hope I'm wrong

Muskegon has a significant Black population too. Why wouldn't they go the way of Grand Rapids?

Bunch of Aunt and Uncle Toms holding back progress and looking the other way at genocide because of reasons I don't understand. It would be interesting to see some exit interviews.

I think this video by FD Signifier discusses some of it. Basically, older black folks are happy with the consistent "devil they know", and aren't looking to rile up the whites, even is the policies sound better. The establishment have also developed inroads into their communities in ways that white "progressives" (and such) have not done successfully. Also they are boomers who watch too much cable news.
