This didn't happen because the Church believes in Christ, it happened because they already had certain mental issues and felt unwelcome in the church. This was mishandled severely.
They "felt unwelcome in the church" because bigotry is baked in to the entire religion. You have demonstrated that for us many times in these comments, homophobe. Murderer.
