When Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard as War Machine for "Iron Man 2", then-Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter said nobody would notice because black people all "look the same".

To be fair, it was an upgrade. Also his first line is "it's me, I'm here, deal with it" fully calling the fact that it's a different actor so Perlmutter is just a racist piece of trash.

I liked Terrence Howard as Rhodie more, him and RDJ had a better chemistry as buddies imo. I fully acknowledge that Don Cheadle is probably a better person and I seem to be in the minority with this opinion, though.

100% liked his portrayal more but I think it’s also me missing the initial vibe of the first movie. It was a comfort movie for a while a decade ago.

Then again I was basically a child and I liked that the desert villain greets Tony Stark with a cheerful Arabic hello, not quite having it sink in what it means. I read it more like Arabs are being put in movies and isn’t that neato and not “ah shit this is me to a lot of people”.

Mostly though I miss the novelty of nerd bullshit being made into big productions. I followed the marvel stuff semi religiously and then just suddenly couldn’t care about any of it
