China executes pedophiles, as well as corrupt politicians and business-people. The U.S. elects them to office, or just worships them outright.

I don’t know about y’all but the more I hear about this China, the more I like ‘em… Except that time I learned about genocide. But, they have some good ideas.

The penalties don't need to be so severe, only they need to be enforced and no one is above the law.

Frankly, I'm a bit wary of executions, because they open convenient way of getting rid of opposition. All is needed is to fabricate some evidence, and have the person executed. Once that's done there's no way to being the person back, even when you have proof they were innocent.

    Bo Xilai.

They don't need such severe penalties to get rid of political opponents. But of course where you stand on the case will depend on your trust in government and giving them the power to execute people will really depend on that as well.

While I fully support imprisoning corrupt politicians and we should do that more often, I wouldn't say that China does that. They get rid of politicians who aren't falling in line and corruption is just the vehicle to do it. Because everyone is. By design, I believe, not only does that allow the politicians to live in luxury compared to the poor folks working 12 hours a day, six days a week, but in case some politician is getting uncomfortable they can dig up corruption charges.
