Klingbeil has floated mandatory joint ventures for non-European companies to ensure technology transfer — a strategy China itself has used for decades to extract know-how from foreign companies seeking access to its market.     We must return to the historical norm of Europe having a massive trade imbalance with China, and only being able to trade silver because China has no interest in their inferior manufactures

    New Chinese DUV and EUV techniques don't even require the caliber of lenses developed by Zeiss, even though their domestic alternatives are almost there. China has worked through or around pretty much all the hurdles that would require European tech. ASML's days are numbered.
