He's like to be better on queer issues, at least. Maybe my trans friends will be able to be a little less scared for the future https://www.thepinknews.com/2026/07/20/andy-burnham-new-prime-minister-lgbtq-issues/
Not sure about that he has flip flopped in single sex spaces as he does with most things. Hopefully you are right but I'm not holding my breath
He's been less clear on that but generally on the correct side of trans issues. Other queer issues he has been a staunch ally, apparently even when it's apparently caused arguments with his own family, and calling out the pope while being Catholic. So please allow me this one tiny bit of hope - I had such high hopes for Starmer and they were all dashed and then hopes I didn't even know I had were dashed too... and Starmer was the best prime minister of the previous 14 years!
I get wanting to have hope but saying Starmer was the best PM in 14 years is a bar so low its unlimboable. And I'm not sure that it's even true, many of his policies built on the cruelty and inequality of the Tories and he has openly supported a genocide.
So please, please, please do have hope. Just not with the labour party. If you must support a party lend the greens your time and energy and support but government isn't going to save any of us. We need to work in community for ourselves. My personal belief is in anarchy but even supporting and organising your local LGBTQ+ groups is far more impactful than anything government will offer
This. And we need to stop thinking of anarchy and dissent as a bad thing. I do not like violence and will always choose to negotiate but we have rolled over too much and are being taken advantage off.
I am learning how to be a part of something.
Very cool Cherry. I'm learning myself (everyday is a school day and that's why work should end at 3pm 😁)
A good book I found was ""practical anarchism a guide for daily life" by Shuli Branson. Really helped make the principles simple and it's mainly about consensus and how to work with everyones views and "full spectrum resistance" Aric McBay
I've found it difficult to find a real life anarchist group but have joined Acorn the housing union
But more power to you, hope you find a way to get involved 💪🖖✊
Thanks, read full spectrum resistance” Aric McBay i will take a look at practical anarchism, i think that is the next step. I have took a lot in mentally, and i have had lots of conversations. I make small steps esp with my economical power. I also try to understand my language in empowering others.
I have also been trying to support small local groups.
I think the practical side is whats missing now.
✊
I keep hearing this, but was he?
The Tory prime ministers didn't proscribe Palestine Action, hand the nation's medical data to Palantir, or push to end jury trials.
Yes all of this. And somehow I'm already so pissed at Burnham that I think he will somehow do worse but with a northern accent
