I'm anything but a backrooms fan but I particularly enjoyed this movie. I think it's best appreciated coming from the perspective that the backrooms is one of those ownerless shared fiction universes that almost never get adaptions with any sort of budget behind it for obvious reasons, much less when they have very niche or novel premises like 'noclipping out of reality to end up in procgen horror hallways'
I was keen to watch it because it made me fantasize that we might get some decent money behind an SCP project one day, they feel like very similar universes in how they have evolved.
It's not a bad movie at all! I'm not even a horror fan but I'm happy that horror fans got a good movie! I hope no one thinks I posted this to shit on the movie, I was shitting on the author for making yet another "muh millennials bad avocado toast" article in 2026. I mean damn how long have articles like this whined about Millennials now? 20 years?
I really hope the SCP movie is good because I am a fan from WAY back when it first started. I'm kind of excited for it, even if I kind of burnt out on horror long ago I'll make an exception for that one because it's close to my heart.
I'm extremely worried about Hollywood stealing the publicly owned internet stories that we built together though.
