It just dawned on me that Netflix is behaving exactly like Google: https://killedbygoogle.com/. Many of their shows do not survive past season one, so people no longer follow new shows for fear that they will be canceled. Similarly, many people do not trust new Google services for fear that they will be canceled.

Google doesn't kill services quickly, they kill longstanding services that didn't gain sufficient traction in their eyes, even if they are well loved by many.

    Used to.

    Now they just don't make anything. They continually twist the screws on what they already have.

    Last new Google product I can remember is Stadia.

    They killed the Tenor API which was very popular and the only reason why people still used Tenor was:

    1. everyone used it already
    2. discord uses it

    They will for sure kill tenor itselt in a year or 2 because everyone stopped using it
