[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (2 children) Doctor: "We're going to do a colonoscopy and endoscopy." Me: "Oh, a spit roast!" Doctor: ". . . Please don't call it that." Stage 2 colon cancer folks! Get checked! permalink fedilink source hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Float@startrek.website 3 points 1 month ago (1 child) Damn, that's rough. How old are you (range is fine) if you don't mind me asking? I'm in my mid-30s and thinking about trying to get my Doctor to get one covered for me. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 child) 56, I started having problems with anemia last year, doc ran it to see where my blood was vanishing to, found 17 polyps but no cancer. But the rule of thumb is, if they find more than one, you come back and do it again. 6 more + stage 2 cancer. It didn't make it out of the colon though, so the surgery got it all. I just don't have a sigmoid colon anymore. So, yeah prep sucks, but get checked! permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Float@startrek.website 2 points 1 month ago Appreciate you sharing that info with me. I'll get checked. permalink fedilink source parent [–] postnataldrip@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago Colonoscopy and gastroscopy make a spit roast, endoscopy is a term that covers procedures using an endoscope in general. I know this because I tried to make a similar joke many moons ago to a family member who was working in endoscopy at the time, now I get to pass on the pedantry! permalink fedilink source parent
