yeah it's a
kind of thing. they changed the passports to say "Taiwan" rather than "ROC" for the same reason
the DPP do recognise the White Terror as having happened though, while it's more a sensitive issue with the (perpetrators) GMD. while at the same time the DPP are quiet about Japanese warcrimes during the occupation era for realpolitik reasons. it's what redditors call an "ESH" situation
