Terrible analogy.
The library everyone built is still there, free of charge for everyone to use.
What AI companies have built is an assistant who has photographic memory and has read everything in the library.
You’re still free to use the library to find what you want, but the library is not using the Dewey decimal system.
You’re also free to build your own knowledge base using the information from the library if you want to, and charge for access or give it away for free.
And tells you to eat rocks and glue.
Because people on Reddit said to, and it read that and remembered it.
Yeah, that's my point. Not sure why you think "it will mindlessly regurgitate whatever it reads" is supposed to be a defense.
The point is that that’s what’s in the library.
No one ever said it doesn’t “mindlessly regurgitate what it reads”.
Lots of people have said that it's a great assistant because of how much it's read.
Lots of people think it's infallible.
Lots of people even think it's fucking sentient.
Lots of people are morons.
Lots of people think you should wash raw chicken with dish soap before you cook it.
Lots of people think lots of stupid things.
So, to summarize, your viewpoint is:
AI is a great assistant because of everything it's read, even if the things it's read can and will cause it to give dangerous information to people who are too stupid to know better?

It’s in the “All” feed and it’s a free world.
Photographic memory isn't quite right. It's more like photographic memory with a side of alzheimer's. It can oscillate back and forth between knowing everything and making things up, leaving it unreliable.
It has photographic memory, but it doesn’t necessarily understand everything it’s remembering.
The xitter post is probably made using AI and AI has this habit of stuffing analogies as a puchline everywhere.
