[–] lime@feddit.nu 15 points 2 months ago (7 children) it's a recompilation, not a remake. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 7 child comments replies: [–] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml -2 points 2 months ago (6 children) Remaster would be a fitting term here. As they have the source code now, that them to hack and change the game with new levels. I mean even without the source code people do this kind of stuff on the N64 version, but now its even easier to do. So expect new levels, same mechanics (someday). permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] lime@feddit.nu 4 points 2 months ago (5 children) a remaster is usually officially sanctioned. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 5 child comments replies: [–] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 months ago (4 children) You can use that term to describe the game without being officially sanctioned. Usually the Remaster term is applied to a specific version of a game, when porting to new systems (even PC to PC) with additional features and fixes in example. And as this is the source code of the game, usually the term Remaster is not used. But for the PC recompiled build, the term would be perfectly fitting to describe it compared to official released games. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] lime@feddit.nu 4 points 2 months ago (3 children) recompilation is more descriptive of what they're actually doing. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 3 child comments replies: [–] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml -2 points 2 months ago (2 children) Both terms are not exclusive.
