I will gladly wait 1 minute of video loading before playing than watch 2 skippable ads that I need to click skip on.

Hell, I will go rampage and claim that I'll wait 5 minutes before video starts rather than watch a single 30s ad.

    I have quite a bit to stand up for. But I'm not waiting double out quintuple the tone a single ad takes. You all would fucking die if you saw what TV used to be like. You just ignore the ads. You all act like you have to be glued to the screen the entire time. Do I like ads? No. Well I phone, and go out of my way to avoid using the products advertised? Yes. Would I wait 5 minutes instead of 30 service through an ad? No. Because my time is more valuable then that.

    Well, the good news is you don't have to wait. There are already a dozen ways to block ads. I don't even see ads anymore. On anything that I own or is on my network.

    And ads back in the day didn't literally track you. I grew up in the 90s with surge and Nintendo and super soakers. Tons of ads that didn't promote dollar store shitty items sold by everyone and their brother for a quick buck that were not crammed down your throat. Today is ridiculous, they literally track every second/sq foot you go inside a store, Google apple ibeacon, or look at the eink price tags that will change by the minute depending on who is near it. It's created to extract every dime from your pocket.

    TV ads of yesteryear is nothing of the privacy invasion trash of today, literally listening to your mic and announcing you're pregnant to your family based on a few past purchases.

    I know. And that is the reason I am not watching cable anymore.

    You just ignore the ads.

    Rather than using my mental agility to ignore something, I used it to remove that something instead. And that is much better.

    Also, if I ignore something, advertiser wont get my money. So why would I ignore it if I wont be paying for this crap anyway? Just skip watching it entirely. Advertiser wont lose anything regardless of me using adblock or not.

    No, but I do watch content online since it is more entertaining and informative compared to TV channels. This calls back to 1st point.

    I'd rather not wait at all, but I do not have a choice I guess. Either consume ads or wait a few secs - that are my options.

    Because my time is more valuable then that.

    So, you value your time but it is worth it to spend on watching ads? I am confused. Nobody glues you to the screen for the time video loads. You can do plethora of things during wait time that are much more valuable than watching/skipping an ad.

    That's just fucking stupid.

    I block ads all over the place when I can. But they are not always blockable on every device and every network. So you just ignore them. Simple. Rather then throwing a fit like a child and saying I would rather wait 5 minutes for a video to load with no ad then just ignoring a 30 second ad.

    The problem with ads isn't so much the time, it's all the BS they do to try and grab your attention. I'd rather a minute of peace and quiet than 30 seconds of my computer shouting at me.

    That said on that front it's not like the entire YouTube platform is any better.
