Spotify boss defends move to AI music, saying it is better than ‘slop’
(www.theguardian.com)
"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
Used it for 3+ years no problem, care to explain why?
I tried it out as an alternative to Google music at one point because it was included in my I think Verizon subscription and it was horrible had a terrible selection of music was constantly having issues crashing and logging in and logging out of it constantly.
I agree google music was goated, so I assume the last time you used Tidal was 5-10 years ago since google music has been defunct and rebranded as YouTube music for nearly a decade.
In its current state Tidal has a huge selection and I've seen no differences in reliability or available music compared to Spotify since my switch years ago. Its got great choices for audio quality streaming as well and a better payment plan for artists (still not amazing but better than Spotify).
I can't speak for its quality early on but now its a reliable and decent streaming platform.
3 maybe 4 years ago. Bad enough that I'm unwilling to give it another try.
