Nope. Saw it for myself on a trip to Zimbabwe. The tour guide bloke had a bucket of water with a hole in it - suspended a toothpick that rotated clockwise when north of the equator as the water ran out. We then walked 50 metres to south of the equator and repeated the bucket/toothpick bit. Spun anti-clockwise. Physics is wonderful but sensitive to location on the globe's surface. I am not responsible for the devil's presence/absence - physics is fundamental. I also stir sauces anti-clockwise against the advice in my great-grandmother's handwritten cookbook from approx 1880. The sauces taste just fine. Bite me.

EDIT: I think it's called the Coriolis Effect. Presumably works on devils too.
