It's more normal than you think, he was one of Marvel's big 3 for decades. They may have even been a fan of the Lou Ferigno show.

Oh we were making a guy up. Im sure there are fans. But like a guy with wall to wall Hulk merch that finds the character super relatable bexause he too flies into blind rages.

That's thinking too deep. Some guys might say Hulk is their favorite superhero because they had Hulk hands as a kid and it's an easy name to say.

I guess there's also the Hulk fan that sees them self as the nerd who is holding back their rage and identifies with Hulk there, but I've never met someone who fills that mould. Besides the original run of Spider-Man does the bit of angry nerd holding back better. There might also be some dudes who are really into the World War Hulk run and pick him as their favorite because of that. But as highly regarded as that run is, the 2000s Marvel comics were pushing out so many good storylines I don't see many people rank that as their favorite.

I could see the appeal: fight sequences that's just wall-to-wall carnage with not a whole lot of extra chaff involved.

He's big green and angry. Come watch him fuck up a tank.

Now being into 70's Hulk from the TV though... that'd be some real freak shit.
