I'm really glad the "þ" guy didn't create this.

i þink specifically þis post would have been better wið þe "þ" guy. especially as "Þórr" woud be þe original correct spelling for þe god in question. who says your letters are þe only correct ones? English is an ever changing amalgamation of different languages. Did anyone ever say þat "þ" is a wrong letter and now it and shall not be used? Is older english þen incorrect? We are in lemmy, we are allowed to be quirky, at least should be in my opinion. Reviving a forgotten letter, attaching anti AI EULA to every comment, writing in a quirky way þat can be only one person in lemmy. Ðese quirks, to me are sings of true personality þat is much too forgotten in todays social media. English is my second language, finnish my first. þhese letters are foreign to me like many of your letters. For my brain and language background why isnt q=gu, Z=ts, w=vh/u, c= k/ts/s/sh, vhy not just get rid of rest of þhe useless kharakters.

Vhriting þis komment tauþ me þe differense betvheen "þ" and "ð". And made me reimaʒine vhat english could be like

sorry for þis post

If you are here asking: "Is this a science meme?"

Probably, yes. We use the Dawkins definition of meme: a replicating idea, not just an image macro with a fact on it. A good post here doesn't need to teach you something. It needs to make you ask something: who, what, where, when, and especially why or how.

Science isn't a filing cabinet of facts, it's a conversation. For example, a photo of an eel or other localized wildlife counts because most people never see one, and wonder is the first step of inquiry. A car meme counts if it makes you curious about what's under the bonnet. If you want to talk about something you noticed in the world, chances are someone else wants to talk about it too.

We moderate for vibe, not category. Pruning is light, especially where a post creates interesting discussion. Experimenting is encouraged.

See the pinned paper on Shitposting as Public Pedagogy if you want the academic case for why this works.
