The scale of brain drain the US is experiencing is going to be disastrous. These are skills that will not be easy to rebuild in the future, assuming the US even survives as a state.
As someone smarter than me noted a while ago "Let's assume for a moment that Trump was a Russian agent when he got elected, with a goal to destroy the US both internally, and its power on the world stage...what exactly would he have done differently to further those aims that he has not done ?"
The only thing I can suggest would be more overt ties to Russian and a pro-Russian propaganda campaign.
An Orwellian "We have always been at war with Europe" or something
