If you're into true crime you should read about Peter Madsen. He's prime hexbear material: An engineer who figured he was super duper clever, so he could definitely get away with murder too - even on board his own private submarine where he decided to chop up the body. Most convoluted get away with murder plan I've ever heard.
Also he escaped from prison for a while by making a piece of soap look like a gun
