The difference is that's trying to be stupid and funny. Rowling is just, I don't know, lazy, or uncreative, or racist. One, or multiple, of those at least.
Cho Chang. is so fucking wild that her editor didn't go, "Wtf?"
That was the age of "if you point out racism, you're the real racist".
It's not a direct connection to Rowling but I was just pointing out another example.
