This app could potentially supplant Tik Tok overtime. As Tik Tok's censorship following it's acquisition by US investors such as Oracle, Silver Lake, and Abu Dhabi-based MGX, and UpScrolled already having questionable ethics, this may be the path forward.

That's cool, still not gonna consume short form media. Idk why people with the desire to have healthy online habits would appreciate this new product. It'll be slopped with politics and AI in no time like Lemmy is already suffering from.

    We don’t want a monarchy. We want a spectacle fueled capitalistic society.

    Is there some trend in humanity, where it’s like… we don’t care if we suffer so long as it’s not to the benefit of someone else? We gotta build our own suffering machines of culture instead? What’s up with that?

    Is it so wrong to want to watch a funny video from time to time on the bus? IMO the best thing about loops, piefed or whatever is that there's so little on here that you can open your app of choice for about 30 minutes to an hour and then be done for the week.

    Short form content is actively making people dumber, causing speech impediments in kids by cause their parents and themselves are addicted to the dopamine hit of scrolling.

    Don't know what kind of work you do, but I work with people, my partner works with kids. Short form content is absolutely ravaging minds. But you can believe whatever you want.

    Fact is, we see kids that are and aren't raised with access to short form content on social media, and the ones without do a whole lot better.

    Speech impediments are getting worse for a reason (the parents have a role in this too, if your around a kid, keep your damn phone in your pocket and talk to the poor thing).

    But again, you do you. You can claim its pseudo-science all you want when your kids end up needing a speech therapist and need medication just to finish an old movie 🤙

    Are you going to ban alcohol as well because that's a neurotoxin?

    Maybe you put down the pop science magazine for five seconds and understand that a single study, or even five studies, does not a consensus make. You sound like moms against video games or whatever the hell like it was called it back in the 2000s.

    Also, great job completely ignoring the point about non-incorporated vectors for engaging with short form videos don't have enough content for you to continuously scroll.

    Not sure about OP, but I think that yes, end goal should be banning alcohol consumption completely.

    I would argue, based on my perception of people who use and abuse those platforms, as well as data to suggest and confirm the above descriptors, that yes it is so wrong lol

    I mean, you're free to eat mcdonalds all you want, but let's not pretend it's a healthy choice in any way you measure it

    Short form is cool because it's like constrained writing.

    Tiktok was pretty great while it was just silly videos.\ But it's not short form anymore so it's full of political essays and propaganda.

    I kinda hope that loops is more like vine than tiktok or vertical YouTube. But it'll probably be up to the instance to govern video length.
