A worldview with 0 explanatory power that teaches them that they are the best inherently but any quick glance at reality will quickly prove that wrong. They need to look somewhere, anywhere, no matter how minor or irrelevant for something that they can twist into "proof" that their enemies are still the bad guys and they are still the good guys.
