My white hold ups are a bit brown on the toes.

Do I need to do something other than submerge in tepid water with unscented soap, rub them and let them soak for 10 minutes before laying them flat to dry?

would you ever wash em in the washing machine?

Not a lady and have no hold ups, but if you want your whites to maintain that crispy, clean brightness, you should try Mrs. Stewart's Liquid Bluing. That shit's magic.
