Pikes, we need lots of scary pikes
Those might be the best weapon for anyone minimally trained. They have good reach but aren't super heavy. It's hard to lose grip with both hands. And it's obvious how they work and simple to execute -- keep the sharp end away from yourself and close to your enemy.
Stick them with the pointy bit.
Yikes, that's a big poker!
Honestly, those would be a great symbol for a group protesting the status quo.
