JD is for sure gross but the Ohio is not, but it used to be. It's been the effort of a massive cleanup operation since the 90s and has seen huge improvements. I swim and ski it about every weekend.

Theres also the Cuyahoga river, which caught fire at least 13 times and led to the creation of the EPA.

Edit: actually no most of ohios waterways are kinda dirty.
