While I'm personally inclined to agree with drag that that was quite clearly answering a question and not an imperative, I also don't think that it should be frowned on to protect the instance one moderates from potentially being taken down.
Lemmy is still (relatively) small enough that it can fly under the radar, but that's not going to last forever.
Well, maybe someone who reads the context on comments could take over protecting the instance and give Squid a break. He mods so many communities, it's clear he's overworked.
