It‘s not about choosing the dark side, or the light side. The Jedi who suppressed and denied their dark urges became too arrogant to notice the danger right beneath them, costing them everything. The Sith on the other hand fully indulged in their primal instincts, fighting for power, fighting against each other, only to destroy themselves. To be with the force you need to be one with your desires, and still be kind and humble with the world around you. So stretch one leg to the dark side, and the other to the light side, as its to only way to achieve perfect balance!
