To me, this is the result of years of social media companies operating with relatively little oversight. Governments are only now starting to introduce stronger regulations, but platforms like Meta spent years setting their own rules because there simply weren't many limits on how engagement-driven their products could be.

    The biggest value of the PinePhone wasn't the hardware itself but giving mainline Linux developers a stable target. That's a contribution that's easy to overlook a few years later.

    It'll be interesting to see whether this stays a gaming-specific heuristic or ends up benefiting other bursty workloads as well. Browsers and desktop GUIs tend to have pretty similar burst/sleep patterns.
